Location: Virginia Key Beach, FL
An open air sustainable Beach Pavilion, Learning Center, and Campground. The project was designed to reach LEED platinum. The design concept came from the local mangrove habitat surrounding the pavilion. The main column structure was created out of Aluminum, utilizing the local aluminum marine trades. Grey water reuse and solar power generation were incorporated. Campgrounds are designed to be simple enough for local communities to participate in their construction and also help prevent beach erosion. 1st place USGBC Florida Chapter, displayed at Green Build Chicago 2007.
